MaGIC startup alumni collaborate to help ease Malaysia’s car woes

ON APRIL 26 a smart partnership between MaGIC alumni SERV and JomParking with Bateriku.com was announced with the aim of bringing convenience to Malaysia’s drivers.

The startups, each possessing a distinct expertise, from parking payment to battery replacement and car servicing, have described the collaboration as a more convenient way to help drivers resolve their driving and car maintenance issues.

MaGIC alumni SERV CEO Arief Imran explained that the collaboration is “one initiative for (them) to support one another in becoming the best in (their) fields of service”.

MaGIC alumni JomParking founder Muhamad Nasir believes the collaboration between JomParking, Bateriku.com and SERV will create a high impact solution, with users able to benefit from parking payment, battery replacement and car servicing.

Despite the different service approaches, Bateriku.com founder Azarol Faizi said “each vertical of JomParking, SERV and Bateriku.com complements one another”.

JomParking and SERV are MaGIC alumni, having participated in the Global Accelerator Programme’s (GAP) inaugural batch in 2017.

GAP aims to help entrepreneurs accelerate growth by providing four months of mentoring from technical and business experts, direct access to route-to-market partners and benefits worth more than US$500,000 from partners.

MaGIC CEO Ashran Ghazi, said: “We are really proud of both JomParking and SERV for how much they have grown in a mere six months after graduating from our global accelerator programme. Testimonies like this from our alumni are the real-life results which help demonstrate the effectiveness of the programmes that we run.

MaGIC plays a pivotal role in success stories like that of JomParking and SERV, helping in building a strong foundation of the business through identification of target markets, building the right product, measuring the right metrics to drive the required outcomes, as well as positioning for local expansion and regional growth.

GAP is one of MaGIC’s efforts to strengthen the local and regional entrepreneurship ecosystem, supporting cross-border collaboration in entrepreneurship and innovation.

The initiative also further establishes and strengthens Malaysia’s position as a gateway to the region for entrepreneurs who are keen to expand their business and reach in Asean, a region that is often touted as the world’s next consumer powerhouse.

More importantly, the partnership epitomises MaGIC’s success in forging collaborative entrepreneurship.

Ashran added, “MaGIC is eager to see more of such partnerships in the future. This year alone, we have seen many new businesses coming together to address existing pain-points and craft customised solutions for existing and potential consumers.

JomParking is a mobile application that aids car owners in their payment of parking fees. The service even allows the extension of one’s parking duration cash-free and instantly. They cover parking spaces managed by DBKL and few other local authorities and look towards further expansion in the near future.

Believing that a well-maintained vehicle is the key to road safety, SERV establishes online platforms with a “Car Service Anywhere” concept. They provide “portable” car maintenance services by bringing freelance car mechanics to users.

The company promises transparency by providing users with a comprehensive car health report and a price quote prior to the hiring of their service.

Bateriku.com provides a full on-site mobile automotive and electrical repair in Malaysia. It offers a variety of types of batteries to suit the specifications of cars with a 12 months warranty.

Bateriku.com is part of the services offered by Green Initiatives Sdn Bhd which specialises in providing total battery and power solutions from manufacturing to waste management. It also spearheads green projects through its recycling efforts towards green environment.
